The upcoming Kia Sorento is not just bringing another three-row SUV to India. It will introduce a mix of cabin technology, family-focused comfort, driver assistance, and new powertrain options to Kia’s Indian line-up.
Ahead of its September 4, 2026 launch, the India-spec Sorento has now been revealed, giving buyers a much clearer idea of what to expect.

The Sorento’s cabin is built around everyday usability as much as premium appeal. Across its three rows, the focus is on making longer journeys more comfortable through flexible seating, convenience features and a well-equipped front cabin.
Three-Row Cabin Designed Around Comfort
The Sorento has been developed as a three-row SUV, making cabin space one of its central features. The India-spec model will be available in both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations, depending on the variant.
Depending on the trim, the cabin is offered with Smoky Black & Grey or Premium Black & Olive Brown two-tone interiors with leatherette seats.
The layered dashboard design keeps the interior looking clean and modern, while technology takes centre stage. Higher variants feature a panoramic curved display combining a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while the range also includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen with a 4.2-inch colour TFT MID on lower specifications.
The Sorento also offers features such as a Head-Up Display, Bose premium sound system with 12 speakers and 64-colour ambient mood lighting on higher variants.
Panoramic Sunroof
A dual-pane panoramic sunroof is one of the prominent comfort features available on the India-spec Sorento.
For a three-row SUV, the larger glass area can help make the cabin feel more open, particularly for passengers seated further back.
It also adds to the premium character Kia is building around the model.
Ventilated and Powered Front Seats
The Sorento offers electrically adjustable front seats, with higher variants adding three-step ventilated front seats, a driver memory function and relaxation comfort seats.
Ventilated seats are particularly relevant in warmer Indian conditions, while electric adjustment makes it easier for drivers and passengers to find a comfortable seating position.
Higher specifications also add rear ventilated seats with three-step cooling, further improving comfort for passengers in the second row.
Dual-Zone Climate Control With Rear AC Vents
Cabin comfort matters more when three rows of passengers are travelling together.
The India-spec Sorento features dual-zone automatic temperature control, along with dedicated rear AC vents for the second and third rows.

Adjustable headrests are provided across all rows, while higher-spec six-seat versions also offer wing-type headrests for the second-row captain seats.
Powered Tailgate

The Sorento addresses this with a 360-degree camera system, providing the driver with a wider view around the SUV while parking or moving through confined areas.
Higher variants also offer Blind View Monitor and Remote Smart Parking Assist, adding further assistance while manoeuvring.
The feature forms part of the Sorento’s broader suite of driver-assistance technologies.
Up to 10 Airbags and Additional Safety Features
The Sorento’s safety package goes beyond ADAS.
Higher specifications offer 10 airbags, while the standard equipment list includes seven airbags on lower variants.
Other safety features listed in the brochure include Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-start Assist Control, Downhill Brake Control, tyre-pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, all-wheel disc brakes and Multi Collision Brake.
Kia Sorento Technology and Connectivity Features
Technology is closely integrated into the Sorento’s cabin rather than being limited to the infotainment screen. Features such as the AI Assistant, Kia Connect 2.0 and the digital rear-view mirror are designed to make everyday interaction with the SUV more convenient.
Kia AI Assistant With Real-Time Generative AI
One of the Sorento’s most interesting technology features is its Kia AI Assistant with Real-Time Generative AI capabilities.
Unlike a conventional command-based voice system that expects a fixed phrase, generative AI can support more natural interactions between the occupant and the vehicle.
The system can help occupants find information and get answers through voice-based interactions while driving.
According to Kia’s brochure, the AI Assistant currently supports interaction in English only, and its responses are intended for information and convenience rather than critical decisions.
This could become one of the Sorento’s most recognisable technology features when it reaches Indian roads.
Connected Car Technology
The Sorento features Kia Connect 2.0 with more than 85 connected features, along with built-in navigation and Over-the-Air software updates. Kia also states that OTA updates can cover up to 30 vehicle controllers.
Higher variants additionally offer features such as Digital Key 2.0, remote seat ventilation control, remote vehicle immobilisation and Find My Car with Surround View Monitor.
Together with the digital displays and AI assistant, this creates a cabin built around both passenger comfort and digital convenience.
Digital Inside Rear-View Mirror
The Sorento is also set to feature an Advanced Digital IRVM on higher variants.
Instead of relying entirely on the conventional mirror view, the system can use a camera feed to provide a clearer view behind the vehicle.
This can be useful in a three-row SUV where passengers or luggage may occasionally restrict the traditional rearward view.
Kia Sorento Engine, Hybrid and AWD Options
The Sorento gives buyers a choice between diesel and strong-hybrid power, with both options aimed at different driving requirements. Higher variants also add AWD, extending the SUV’s capability beyond regular city and highway use.

The Kia Sorento will be offered with two powertrain choices in India.

The first is a Smartstream 1.6-litre Turbo GDI Hybrid, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The brochure lists engine output of 132.4 kW along with a 47.7 kW electric motor.

The second option is a Smartstream 2.2-litre diesel, paired with an 8-speed DCT, producing 142 kW and 442 Nm of torque.
AWD Available With Both Hybrid and Diesel
Kia has confirmed All-Wheel Drive for the Sorento, and importantly, AWD is available with both the strong-hybrid petrol and 2.2-litre diesel powertrains on the relevant higher variants.
The brochure lists both engines across the Sorento trim range and identifies HTX AWD and HTX (A) AWD configurations.
AWD versions also receive terrain modes for Snow, Mud and Sand, helping provide additional traction when driving conditions demand it.
The Sorento will become Kia India’s first ICE-powered model to offer AWD.

When Can We See the Kia Sorento in India?
The Kia Sorento is scheduled to launch on September 4, 2026.
Kia has already begun production of the India-spec vehicle at its Anantapur facility, and pre-booking options are available ahead of launch.
